I'll be at the R100 shoot this weekend too- is a great time! I think they usually have about 300 archers show up. The targets are amazing! They specially make some crazy targets just for the R100 shoots.

The Iowa Sportsman's 3-D shoot is this weekend (Aug. 14th & 15th) to anyone who is interested! Only $25 to enter, plus a $1,000 grand prize guaranteed and all Rinehart targets! Should be great! Is hosted by the Humboldt Archery Club in Dakota City. For more info call 515-368-4500.

Also The 2010 Rinehart R100 Annual Archery Shoot is also coming up this month! This is the biggest shoot in Iowa and draws hundreds of archers every year! I went last year and had an absolute blast! They also have archery games and lots of the most unique targets ever created! It is August 28th & 29th and is hosted by the Hitaga Archery Club near Cedar Rapids. Cabins, trailer sites, tent sites, cafeteria, etc. available. Info at www.r100.org or call 319-560-6833.

I should have added that the user fee in SoDak is for the whole year and would get you into the campground of any state park.

Also on a somewhat similar note Iowa DNR unveiled a couple new natural resource license plates available this spring - check them out on the home page (I'll have them up soon). I have the pheasant on mine (who would've guessed?) but I'm guessing one of these new plates will be the biggest seller in the state in 2010. If you don't have one, you should get one.

I was a delegate at the Iowa REAP Congress this weekend and long story short we (as in natural resources in general, which of course means hunters and anglers) are probably going to get budget cuts to REAP as well as other areas of interest to our crowd with the current economic situation. I know Iowa doesn't have a park user fee at this time (from what I understand we used to but got rid of it), but I just read a press release from South Dakota that said MORE people used their parks this year despite an increase in fees ($28 per year for first entrance license, $14 if you buy a second). I think something similar to this would be reasonable for Iowans to pay. Any thoughts?
